Eduin was born with a lymphatic malformation of the left arm, left axilla, and left chest wall. Emily was introduced to Eduin and his mother when he was just a few months old. It took a year of planning before Eduin arrived to Shriners Hospital in Boston, and was treated by a plastic surgeon in 2008. His treatment required three separate surgeries, one on his chest and two on his left arm, where the doctor was able to remove several pounds of cysts and lymphatic fluid. Although there is no “cure” for lymphatic malformation, his surgeon was able to change Eduin’s cosmetic appearance and improve the function of his left arm.
